When To Save A Pink Landscape

Thanks again to everyone who got the word out and donated money to fund the restoration of the sculpture in Cass Park "Pink Landscape―Three Trusses Plus".   James Lawton, the artist of the piece, and I have worked out a weekend which is good for both of us to complete the process.  We have agreed on the weekend of August 21st and 22nd.  We're not sure exactly which day, this will likely be determined by the weather forecast for that weekend.  I will be in the park a few days beforehand to do a little preparation work. I believe we have enough volunteers to work on the actual painting of the sculpture but moral support is always welcome of course.  As the weekend nears I will post the precise day and time.
For anyone who wanted to donate and couldn't or were too late, don't despair, I know of at least three more sculptures which need fixing and hope to work on those soon.  For now I'm going to get back to writing  my usual skewed observations of Detroit.

  1. For the record, I think your observations are less skewed than most.

  2. dju get enuf for beers too? if not, I will bring it. Nice work, OMS!
Can't wait to participate in this common cause and finally see who is this well-spoken dude(ette). FYI: Don't know if you are planning to apply paint with brushes, but if you have access to a sprayer I can bring a generator to hook it to.

  3. LtD, beers would be nice. We'll be using a combination of brushes and rollers so we should be fine without a sprayer. Thank you for the offer though. Not sure if I'm going to come myself or send one of my doubles.

  5. Hey OMS! Don't see a day or update to repaint sculpture to look like Barney. Please tell me you have not engaged in carpetbaggery by trading community art service for a wild end-of-summer weekend in Harbor Springs with our $300. JK ;)
